With the 2027 Silverado 1500 replacing the 6.2L V8 with a new 6.6L V8, what will drive your purchase decision?
Chevy 2027 Silverado V8 Switch: New Power or Miss the Old?
Chevrolet is giving the 2027 Silverado 1500 a major makeover after eight years, though the truck keeps a familiar overall formula with three cab sizes, three bed sizes, and rear- or four-wheel drive. The biggest powertrain change is the removal of the previous 6.2-liter V8, replaced by a new 6.6-liter V8. A new 5.7-liter V8 also joins the lineup, while the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter diesel return. Chevrolet has not yet released output figures, and the article notes the new V8sΓÇÖ horsepower remains unknown. A ten-speed automatic transmission is now standard across the lineup. Other purchase factors include updated styling, standard Z71 equipment with four-wheel drive, and broader technology. Every 2027 Silverado 1500 gets a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch digital driver display. ZR2 and High Country trims add a head-up display, rear-view camera display, and 11.5-inch passenger screen. The ZR2 models emphasize off-road capability with 35-inch MT tires, a 2-inch lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and electronic locking differentials, while the High Country gains the SilveradoΓÇÖs first panoramic sunroof.
