Supreme Court Issues Wave of Controversial Rulings in Final June Session

In the final stretch of its June 2025 session, the U.S. Supreme Court issued several rulings that are drawing national attention and debate. A 6–3 majority upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors, while another 6–3 decision allowed the federal government to resume deportations to third countries pending appeal. The Court also unanimously expanded U.S. jurisdiction over terrorism-related lawsuits with its Fuld v. PLO decision. In other rulings, it restricted the use of “retribution” in supervised release revocations and ruled against FCC deference in a telecom case. With the 2025 term nearing its end, the Court’s decisions reflect deep ideological divisions and set major precedents for healthcare, immigration, terrorism law, and federal regulatory authority.
