Saoirse Ronan Stars in Surreal Talking Heads Video for “Psycho Killer”

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of their first live show, Talking Heads released their first official music video for the iconic 1977 track “Psycho Killer.” Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Mike Mills (“C’mon C’mon”) and starring Saoirse Ronan, the video takes a surreal, psychological approach rather than depicting literal violence. Ronan plays a seemingly normal office worker unraveling under the pressure of routine, embodying the underlying tension and existential dread of the song. Mills emphasized the concept of “psychic violence” over explicit imagery, which the band supported, praising the creative direction. The video has sparked strong reactions for its unique interpretation, nostalgic timing, and high-caliber cast and crew. This poll invites viewers to share their take on the bold visual update to a punk-era classic.
