How should r/indieheads respond to indie labels astroturfing on their subreddit?
r/indieheads Calls Out Indie Labels for Astroturfing
In May 2026, moderators of r/indieheads, the largest indie music community on Reddit, issued a statement revealing an influx of accounts run by indie labels. These accounts were attempting to blend in with regular users and promote their artists without transparency. The mods expressed disappointment but have not revealed which labels are involved. They plan to allow verified labels and distributors moving forward.
Options
- Ban all suspected label accounts
- Verify and collaborate with transparent labels
- Ignore the issue and continue as usual
- Create a separate section for label promotions
