Nancy Mace Launches South Carolina Governor Bid, Calls Herself “Trump in High Heelsâ€
U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC‑01) has announced her candidacy for Governor of South Carolina in the 2026 election, launching her campaign at The Citadel, where she became the first woman to graduate from its Corps of Cadets in 1999. Branding herself “Trump in high heels,†Mace is promoting policies such as eliminating the state income tax, expanding school choice, and reforming the judicial system. Once a critic of Donald Trump, she has since aligned with him and received his support in past elections. Her entrance into an already competitive GOP field comes amid a defamation lawsuit tied to accusations she made against her ex-fiancé. The race is expected to be one of the most closely watched gubernatorial primaries in the country.
